Hartmann Croatia awarded for its excellent sustainability work

28-10-2008

For the first time Hartmann Croatia participated in the Central European Environmental Reporting Award (CE ERA)- Green Frog Award and received the third place. So far, this initiative has been exclusively for Hungarian companies and 2008 was the first time that companies in other Central European countries were able to participate.

-The Business Sustainability & Development department has played an important role in the current report style. The years of support & service, recommendations and a systematic solution such as the PSD (Production Sustainability Data) have enabled us to give a straightforward and relevant company's sustainability presentation.
The diligent work of both parties has been detected by an unbiased jury as a systematic and transparent approach to sustainable development and, most importantly, the behavior of the company itself, says Marko Stefan, Marketing Manager in Croatia.

- I am not surprised that Hartmann Croatia has won a prestigious sustainability-reporting award. To me, it was merely a question of when. For years, they have been working really hard and professionally on this and other sustainability efforts and now it pays off, says Tomas Schou Winter, Corporate Manager, Business Sustainability & Development.

Continuous effort

Hartmann Croatia has been making the Sustainability Report for the past seven years with great success. Continuous investments in technology optimization and temperature reduction in the drying department have resulted in reduction of gas consumption by 585 Gigajoules (from 2006 to 2007).

In 2007 water consumption was reduced by 5,600 cubic meters by separating the water systems on paper fibre moulding machines and by installation of a water filter.

Beneficial networking

Being invited to this event is a story of networking, not only within Hartmann but also outside. Hartmann Croatia is a member of the local branch of WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development), with which the local Deloitte office has been in contact. Therefore Hartmann Croatia received the invitation from Deloitte to participate in the Green Frog Award 2008. For further reference, please see this link.

A story of networking, systematic and diligent work, that is (most importantly) being recognized as good work applicable for other companies that are striving towards sustainable development.

Central European Environmental Reporting Award

Since 2001 Deloitte's porcelain frog has been awarded to companies that prepare the best environmental or sustainability report according to the professional jury.

This year focus was on reducing carbon-dioxide emission and innovative actions were awarded bonus points.
