25-05-2009

Nordic companies having signed UN Caring for Climate met Ban Ki-Moon for interventions and discussions of the fight against climate change yesterday. Hartmann CEO, Peter A. Poulsen, took part.

Spotlight on Nordic climate experience

Being a member of the Global Compact Nordic Network under the Confederation of Danish Industries and signer of the Caring for Climate initiative, Hartmann was, along with other significant Danish companies with strong sustainability and environmental profiles, asked to bring forward Nordic experience with and expectations for initiatives for the fight against climate change.

“It was an opportunity for us to bring forward our points of view on the climate agenda to a leading spokesman for increased spotlight on this issue. As Hartmann was one of the first companies in Denmark to take a systematic and professional approach to environmental sustainability, I feel that we can contribute with our experience and set ambitious goals – also for our own company,” says Hartmann CEO, Peter A. Poulsen.

Climate Summit

Ban Ki-Moon was in Copenhagen for the opening of The World Business Summit on Climate Change (24-26 May). The aim of the summit is to demonstrate how policy, coupled with innovative business models can drive a sustainable transformation of the economy.

Recommendations from the meeting will be presented to Danish Prime Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen to take forward in the coming six months of negations prior to UN Climate conference (COP 15) in Copenhagen in December 2009.
